14th September, New Delhi: R11 Ambush Gang showed continued their good work of yesterday to reserve its place as a winner in the final day of Puravankara Touché Golf League Infantry round, North Zone.

They carded 137-over for the total of 1726 at Noida Golf Club to qualify for the cavalry round. Other three Gangs who qualified for the cavalry round were Eagle Shooters, Goodness Gracious and Levitate. All 22 Gangs were playing simultaneously at Classic Golf Resorts as well as at Noida Golf Course.

R11 Ambush Gang was positive from the beginning as they had a captain named Kapil Dev. Though, World Cup cricket winning captain didn’t turn up, other teammates like Ateet Gaur and Nikhil Chopra took the full responsibility on their shoulders to keep his name on top in the leader board.

Nikhil Chopra
Eagle Shooters Gang who was tied for fourth place on day one, returned with a two day score of 1745 (861,884) to finish as second. Two shots behind was Goodness Gracious Gang at 1747 (884,863) for third spot. Levitate Gang who was nowhere in the contention yesterday, managed to finish in fourth place at 1752.

Former Cricketer Nikhil Chopra who was a part of the winning team shot eight –over 80 for the day and looked quite impressed by his own performance. A delighted Chopra said, “I am so happy that I could play a great game in last two days. I wanted to show my 6-year-old son that his dad can also hit some good balls and he could see that himself. Now, I have an excuse to practice with my son as much as possible to give a tough challenge to all three gangs in next Cavalry round.”

Lucknow Eagles Gang whose all 12 players flew from Lucknow couldn’t make it to the top four even after being second on day one at the tough greens of Noida Golf Club.

All four Gangs will now participate in the Cavalry round in October at Classic Golf Resorts. Only one Gang will then qualify for the Gladiator round which will take place in SriLanka to choose the best Gang of India.
